Read before starting
- ⚠ The flash area blinks rapidly. Do not use fast mode if you are sensitive to flashing lights.
- This tool targets stuck pixels (colored dots on black). Success on truly dead pixels (black dots on white) is very unlikely.
- Color cycling may help in some stuck-pixel cases, but results are not guaranteed. For a new device, a return or exchange is usually the better first move.
- Do not press, rub, tap or heat the panel. Those techniques circulate widely, and they create new defects far more reliably than they fix old ones.
How it works — and its honest limits
A stuck pixel still receives power, but one or more subpixels are frozen in the on state. Cycling the area through rapid color changes forces those subpixels to switch repeatedly, which can free a stuck transistor. This only applies to stuck pixels: a dead pixel receives no power at all, so no on-screen pattern can affect it. Unsure which you have? Recommended routine
- Run the Dead Pixel Check and note the stuck pixel's position.
- Drag the flash area so it fully covers that position.
- Run a 10-minute session at medium speed.
- Re-test. Still stuck? Try one 20–30 minute session.
- No change after that: document it with a report and check your return window or warranty.
What we will not recommend
Search results for stuck pixels are full of advice to press the panel with a cloth-wrapped pen, tap the spot, rub it, or warm it with a hairdryer. We do not recommend any of it. The realistic upside is small, and the downside — spreading the defect into a cluster, damaging the polarizer, or voiding the warranty you were about to use — is not.
